Goa was still 60-70 Kms from Sawantwadi. The road name is NH 17 but it rarely matches the tag for some distance from Sawantwadi. The road is very narrow at times, kids running, cattle roaming.. The drive is tough. The white lines to mark centre of the road is the only good thing.
Tip : Do not refill your car in Maharashtra. My Wagon R fuel tank was full at start (35 litres). We refilled from the first Fuel station in Goa. The tax difference will save you atleast 600 Rs on full refill.
The Maharashtra-Goa border is about 40 Kms from Sawantwadi. We crossed into Goa and stopped for refill. Total distance covered when refilled was 515 Kms. The mileage was a comfortable 18 Kms/Litre. We drove straight to reach Porvorim, Goa at 8.15 PM. The stay was at Hotel Le Magnifique.
Total distance - 539.7 Kms
Time taken including breaks - 15.5 hours (includes time for sight seeing, photography, food breaks etc)
We visited Miramar beach near to Panjim at night. Had food and returned by 12.00 midnight.
